How does Monster Leaderboards work?

An organiser creates a leaderboard for an event. Attendees scan the event QR code to register and receive a unique Player QR Code. When they participate, event staff scan the player's code and enter their score. The leaderboard updates in real time.

Do I need special hardware?

No special hardware is required. A phone or tablet can be used to scan player QR codes and enter scores.

Can I brand the event landing pages?

Eligible paid plans include options to add a company logo to event landing pages and remove Monster Leaderboards branding. Check the current plans page for the exact features included in each plan.

Can I export participant data?

Participant data downloads are available on eligible paid plans. Check the current plans page for the latest plan inclusions.

What kinds of events can use Monster Leaderboards?

Monster Leaderboards is designed for trade shows, expos, corporate events, brand activations and other events that use interactive games or competitions.

How to Integrate Mailchimp with Monster Leaderboards

Connect Monster Leaderboards with Mailchimp to automatically capture and organise player registrations from your events. Once connected, new participants will be added to your Mailchimp audience for easy follow-up and marketing.

Step 1: Get Your Mailchimp API Key

Log in to your Mailchimp account
Click your profile icon (top right)
Go to Account & Billing
Navigate to Extras → API Keys
Click Create A Key (if you don’t already have one)
Copy your API Key

Step 2: Find Your Server Prefix

Your Server Prefix is included at the end of your API key.

Example:
If your API key looks like:
abcd1234-us1

Your server prefix is:
us1

You’ll need both the API Key and Server Prefix to connect Mailchimp to Monster Leaderboards.

Step 3: Connect Mailchimp in Monster Leaderboards

Log in to your Monster Leaderboards account
Navigate to Integrations (or settings area where Mailchimp is configured)
Enter your:
API Key
Server Prefix
Click Connect

Once connected, Monster Leaderboards will begin syncing player registrations automatically.

Step 4: How Data is Synced

When a player registers for an event:

Their details are sent directly to Mailchimp
They are added to an audience for future communication
Each contact includes event tracking data

Automatic Setup

If an audience named “MonsterLeaderboards” does not exist, it will be created automatically
A merge tag called EVENT is added to store the name of the event the player registered for

This allows you to segment and target contacts based on specific events.

Step 5: Using Your Data in Mailchimp

Once synced, you can:

Send follow-up emails to event participants
Segment users by event using the EVENT field
Build campaigns based on engagement or performance
Export and analyse participant data
