Security at Monster Leaderboards

Protecting event data, player information, and platform access

At Monster Leaderboards, security is built into the platform from the ground up. We understand that event organisers, exhibitors, and teams trust us with participant information and live competition data, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our platform is designed to help protect Personally Identifiable Information (PII), secure data in transit and at rest, and support safe, reliable event operations.

Our approach to security

Monster Leaderboards uses layered security controls to help safeguard sensitive data across the platform. This includes encryption, secure transport protocols, and access protections designed to reduce risk and protect player and administrator information.

We focus on practical, effective security measures that support both day-to-day platform use and long-term data protection.

Data encryption at rest

Sensitive data stored within Monster Leaderboards is encrypted at rest using AES-256-CBC encryption.

This means that protected information is encrypted before being stored in the database, helping ensure that sensitive records remain unreadable without access to the appropriate encryption key.

Encrypted fields include:

Players

  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Custom field values

Administrators / Users

  • Email address

By encrypting sensitive fields at rest, Monster Leaderboards adds an additional layer of protection for customer and participant data.

Encryption in transit

Monster Leaderboards is configured to support and require HTTPS for secure communication between users and the platform.

This helps protect data as it moves between browsers, devices, and our application by encrypting traffic in transit, reducing the risk of interception or tampering.

HTTPS is used to help secure:

  • Player registration activity
  • Admin access to the platform
  • Score submission workflows
  • Event and leaderboard interactions

Privacy-first handling of personal information

We recognise that player and administrator data must be handled with care. Our security enhancements are designed specifically to improve the protection of Personally Identifiable Information and reduce unnecessary exposure of sensitive data.

By encrypting key personal fields and enforcing secure connections, Monster Leaderboards helps customers run live event experiences with stronger privacy protections in place.

Built for real-time event operations

Monster Leaderboards is designed for live environments where speed and simplicity matter, but not at the expense of security. Whether your team is registering players, scanning QR codes, or entering scores during an event, we work to ensure the platform remains both practical and protected.

Our goal is to provide a system that supports:

  • Secure participant registration
  • Protected player identity data
  • Safe admin access
  • Reliable score handling in live event settings

As Monster Leaderboards grows, we will continue to review and improve our security practices to support a safer and more trusted platform.
